Kara Johnson advises employers on a range of employment law matters, with a focus on compliance, workplace investigations, and risk management.

Her practice includes over 20 years of experience counseling businesses and organizations on employment policies and procedures, as well as conducting internal investigations into workplace concerns. Kara represents clients before administrative agencies, including the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Whistleblower Division, and has experience in Massachusetts state and federal courts.

In addition to her legal practice, Kara contributes to thought leadership in the field. She is a co-author of a chapter on resolving sexual harassment complaints published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education and has written on emerging workplace issues for the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Employment Law Section Review.

Kara is committed to community engagement and regularly volunteers her time with several nonprofit organizations, including service on the Waystone Health and Human Services Human Rights Committee and the Ironstone Farm Board of Directors.

Prior to practicing employment law, Kara worked extensively in victim services, including roles with the Children’s Advocacy Center at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and as Chief of Staff at the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance.
